Africa English Language Coordinator
Tinashe joined ITA in November of 2023 as the Coordinator of English Language training in Africa.
Tinashe Mafuta was born on 17 April 1981 in Harare, Zimbabwe. He made the decision to follow Jesus Christ when he was 15 years old and became actively involved with Scripture Union at the High School where he was studying. This helped him to love God and grow in his Christian faith. The church he fellowships with created ministry opportunities for young people, and Tinashe was part of teams that used to go to rural/outlying areas in Zimbabwe for ministry. This is where the seed for missions was planted in Tinashe’s heart.
In 2001-2003, Tinashe worked for Research International Zimbabwe (as a research interviewer) and Olivine Industries under the sales department. It was during this time when he started asking and thinking more about ministry involvement. A missionary from South Africa (under ProChristo Global Missions) came to speak at his church on missions. This was the turnaround for Tinashe’s life. In 2004, he signed up to go for missions training in South Africa. In 2005, he served in Zambia for one year and in 2006 went back to Zimbabwe to start Pro Christo Global Mission Zimbabwe. Tinashe focused on mobilizing churches. pastors, and individuals into missions. This also opened doors of opportunities to do leadership trainings with pastors and church leaders. In 2008, Tinashe completed a Diploma in Counseling with Radio Pulpit. In 2009, ProChristo Global Missions merged with OM. Tinashe became the assistant leader to the Zimbabwe field leader. He led the mobilizing department whose purpose was to bring missions awareness to the church, network with pastors, facilitate church-based trainings, organizing for missions’ conference and giving oversight to outreaches. 2011, After doing a leadership development training with OM, Tinashe started a leadership development initiative focused on young people in Zimbabwe. He studied theology at Harare Theological College and graduated with a Diploma in Theology in 2015.
Tinashe’s first exposure to LMC was in 2012, and since then has been involved as an LMC trainer.
He married Claris in 2019. She is passionate about seeing women being impacted through small business enterprises, and she has started a small group of believers (house church) meeting every Sunday in their home.
Tinashe has served as the OM Africa Training and Leadership Development Officer since 2019.
Tinashe is passionate about seeing leaders being trained, equipped, and empowered so that they can be effective and fruitful in their ministries.
